On-site – Part-time Position
The Ministry Assistant for Barnabas Vision will assist the Executive Director/Community Minister (and other BV staff as needed) in accomplishing Barnabas Vision’s mission in Middle Tennessee by performing tasks that support our varied work in the community. These tasks may stretch across multiple ministry and administrative areas, including community engagement, crisis relief, and administrative tasks. All tasks required by this position will be to promote the Barnabas Vision’s mission and vision. The Executive Director/Community Minister is the immediate supervisor for this position. This position is expected to require approximately 20-25 hours per week.
Responsibilities:
General
- Demonstrate Christ-like professional integrity by adhering to ethical standards.
- Maintain effective communication and rapport with coworkers, clients, and volunteers.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Remain flexible to adapt scheduling and task focus to the need of the day.
- Promote spiritual and social engagement, including praying with the BV community.
- Interact with staff, clients, and volunteers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Attend Barnabas Vision events, including some weekends and evenings, and support community events.
Specific
- Assist the Executive Director in various ministry tasks.
- Complete administrative tasks and errands as needed, including: answering phones on Mondays and Fridays and getting gift cards for emergency situations.
- Help administer and document Crisis Relief financial assistance.
- Assist with recurring program events (such as Coffee Connections), including attending the events and notifying clients ahead of time.
- Visit long-term care facilities to conduct Bible studies as needed.
- Coordinate ministry events like Coat Giveaways, Random Acts of Kindness events, etc.
- Help organize prayer and worship events.
- Be available to work some evening events.
- Be available to occasionally teach Bible Class on Tuesday evenings.
- Conduct pastoral visits with the Community Minister and/or individually.
- Be present in the office during scheduled hours and report to the Executive Director regarding schedule changes, absences, or tardies.
Qualifications:
- Must sign and comply with the Barnabas Vision’s Statement of Faith.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be available to work approximately 20-25 hours per week.
- Interest in the nonprofit sector and ministry is expected.
- Patient, motivated, well-organized, with exceptional communication skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills among diverse populations.
- Sufficient computer skills, including willingness to learn Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and willingness to learn CRM.
- Proactive in learning via exploration.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Employment eligibility verification.
- Successful completion of all TN state background checks, screenings, & drug tests.
