There is a lot going on in our world right now. At Barnabas Vision when I am talking and ministering to people or teaching our Bible class, I will often refer to James chapter one which says, “Consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds.” Trial will either bring us closer to God or further away, but we get to choose. I often divided the trials into 3 categories: Finance, Health, and Relationships. While there are a variety of trials in each category, I want to focus on relationships and especially marriage.

No marriage is easy.  Marriage often takes hard work to find balance and not take each other for granted. Marriage can be messy as sin is in all of us and unfortunately enters into our marriages. To build a strong, lasting marriage, there has to be forgiveness and a willingness to work together. In the middle of the storm, it is important to cling to one another and this is only possible if we work as a partnership and gain each other’s trust.  I like this picture of my parents that was taken a couple of years ago where the cross is in the middle of them and they are on either side.  It is a great reminder that in all of our marriages God needs to be the center. Christ can’t just be a part of their lives or mostly his life or her life, He has to be in the center.

We live in a society where lies pull us in different directions and it is so hard to have a healthy marriage when the world tells you to focus on yourself. Selfishness can drive a wedge between spouses so it is important to remember forgiveness and to work together as a team. Today a lot of marriages and families are hurting and if we can pray for you please reach out to us.
