At The Barnabas Vision, we are committed to serving our community in many ways, and one of these is through our Elder Care ministry. Each week, we host Bible studies at local assisted living facilities, including Adam’s Place, Community Care, NHC, and The Rutherford. These gatherings give us the joy of spending time with residents while sharing God’s Word through short, easy-to-follow studies designed with seniors in mind.

Our Community Engagement and Social Media Coordinator, Ansley Ledbetter, has been leading many of these studies since the summer. She shared:

“Every week I facilitate a Bible study at assisted living facilities we partner with. I absolutely love forming connections with the residents and sharing God’s Word with them! What started as just a part of my job has quickly become one of my favorite parts of the week. Not only do I get to sit down and talk with them about the Lord, but I also get to learn about their lives. I’ve laughed, mourned, and shared meaningful moments with them. I’ve celebrated with a resident who took their first steps after an injury, prayed for another’s grandson serving in the military, and have been invited to join a few games of Bingo. I’m so thankful to be a part of this ministry at Barnabas Vision.”

In addition to weekly Bible studies, we are excited to be restarting our Adopt-a-Grandparent Program. Through this program, volunteers are paired with residents at senior living facilities to spend intentional time together. Many residents no longer have family nearby, and this program helps provide encouragement, friendship, and connection during this season of their lives.
