Thoughts about being ‘Courageous’
A few weeks ago, I was in my oldest son’s room talking to him right before bedtime. I listened to him as he told me about his day and all the different things he was going to be involved in now that he was 9 years old. As he spoke, it began to dawn on me that in another 9 years he will have finished high school and will be just starting college. Right now as he is growing up, I have the opportunity to share Christ with him in the way I live and interact with him; as well as in the way he sees me treat other people, especially his mom. I have the opportunity to be with him and to mold his life into a man of GOD. I have tried over the last nine years, to be a positive influence but often life’s demands keep me busy and I am sometimes naive to think I will always have a tomorrow to do better. The truth is before we know it a baby has grown to be nine years old and it will not be long until another 9 years has past and he is 18 years old.
Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
The instruction that I give my children is critical, as it is the foundation on which they will build their life. I am helping them to build a life anchored upon the solid rock of GOD’s word instead of the shifting sands of this world!
An opportunity to be Courageous
Some of the guys at North Boulevard have recognized an opportunity to focus our minds on just how important fathers are in the lives of their children. The movie Courageous, which opens Friday, September 30th, focuses on the importance of a father in the lives of his children.
